Rising 6th Grade Students and Parents:

Middle School is an exciting transitional time in your students’
lives! Soon they will be issued ibooks at Short Pump Middle School and while safeguards are in place, there’s still information that our school resource officer would like to pass on to you regarding the internet.

We will have an Internet Safety Workshop April 28 from 7 pm - 8:30 pm. Officer Steve Francis will address parents and share information you will want to know and tips to keep our students safe while on the internet. There will be a second officer with us who will be addressing students in a breakout room. This was very well attended last year and something that’s been requested we repeat! We hope to see you April 28 at 7 pm.

IT’S ELECTION TIME!!!

COLONIAL TRAIL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PTA NOMINATING COMMITTEE REPORT MARCH 5, 2009

The Colonial Trail Elementary School PTA Nominating Committee was formed at the February PTA general membership meeting.  The committee members elected were Lisa Crawford, Chrissy Curtis, Todd Dube, Deb Gribben, Larry Hayes, Laura O’Brien, and Linda Saksvig.

The committee met and elected Laura O’Brien as the Chair.  The committee approved an “Executive Board Nomination Form” which asked for dedicated volunteers to indicate their interest in service on the Executive Board.   This form allowed for individuals to express their interest, or to recommend a candidate for consideration.  A copy of this form was sent home in student folders February 17th and extra forms were available at the front desk in the office.  A link to this form was also put on the PTA website, and in an email blast which went out to all PTA members.  Principal Cantone utilized the connect-ed voice mail system to inform school families about the form and the nominating committee’s search.  A second email blast went out with a reminder of the form deadline.

The form deadline was Wednesday, February 25th.   A second call was put out for more individuals to come forward for consideration.  The committee contacted every person recommended to determine their consent to be considered for serving in position on the PTA Executive Board.

The committee met three additional times to construct the slate.  The committee voted and approved the slate.  It is with great pride that we announce the slate of officers for the 2009-2010 Colonial Trail Elementary School PTA Executive Board:

THE PTA BASKETBALL NIGHT IS ALMOST HERE!!!

THURSDAY FEBRUARY 26, 2009 AT THE DEEP RUN HS GYM
DOORS OPEN AT 6:40 PM, GAME TO START AT 7 PM

Make a night of it and enjoy dinner with food available from Chick-Fil-A

Come on out and enjoy the fun! Raffles, prizes, free throw contest, 3 point shot contest, P-I-G contest, dribbling contest and much more!

Come on out and watch your teacher and your Mom or Dad play basketball on the fabulous courts at Deep Run High School!

Special appearances by “Scout” and the Chik-Fil-A “Cow”.

HERE IS THE “SCOOP”:
1. Cover charge is $2.00 per CTES student and parent. Platinum, Gold and Silver Scout Club members have free family admission. Teachers admit free.
2. There will be a raffle bucket for the free throw and 3 point shot contests. $1.00 each for entry, no limit. The BB Committee has other raffles planned.
3. There will be a dribbling contest and P-I-G contest for the CTES students.
4. Chick-Fil-A will be on hand selling sandwiches, chips and drinks in the commons area. A portion of the proceeds will go to CTES PTA.
5. Please park on the left side of the school, back by the football field and enter Deep Run from the side.
6. Lots of fun to be had by all!
